CFAA Fire Alarm Technician Registration Renewal

As an existing CFAA Fire Alarm Technician, you are already registered on the website. Your email address is your login id.  Please  Do Not re-register.  If you have not previously set up a password, then select  “forgot password”.  A temporary password will be sent to you via email. 

Please note when your Registration is expiring.
The expiry date is shown on your CFAA Fire Alarm Technician Photo ID Card.  

New Program as of January 1, 2019
  • Automatic notices of renewal 60 and 30 days before expiration and 30 days after expiration
  • Suspension of Registration 60 days after renewal date
  • Between 2 and 12 months after expiration date a re-instatement fee of $100 plus 8 CE credits
  • Between 12 months lapsed and 24 months lapsed a re-instatement fee of $200 plus 16 CE credits
  • Technicians not lapsed more than 2 years and less than 3 years a re-instatement fee of $200 plus completion of Theory and Practical Exam
  • Technicians lapsed greater than 3 years must complete Course 5 plus the Theory and Practical Exam as well as the $200 re-instatement fee.
  • Discretion from exemption and fees may be made by appeal to the Executive Director

In order to remain a Registered CFAA Fire Alarm Technician in good standing you are required to complete the renewal process by submitting your CE credits and your payment.

As of January 1, 2017 all renewing Registered CFAA Fire Alarm Technicians will need to submit a CFAA Continuing Education Submittal Form proving eight (8) required Continuing Education Credits. Please see Continuing Education Requirements under the technician tab for more information.  Submit your CE credits the same time as you are renewing your registration.  Email your CE credits submittal form with supporting documents to, then continue with the renewal process.  

Once logged in, menus will appear at the left side of the screen.  Move the mouse over each tab to reveal the contents.  Eg. "Profile"
  1.  First, check your profile for accuracy and update if necessary before paying.  Eg. Address change...
  2.  Upload a new photo (if you so desire).
  3.  Click on “renewal” under the tab 'Technician Status/Update' on the left side of the page to renew your  registration using your credit card on our secure site.
  4.  A receipt will be emailed to you immediately upon completing the transaction and a new updated photo id card  and a copy of the said receipt will be mailed to you via Canada Post.
