Validate a Technician's Registration
To validate a Technician's registration status, enter his/her SURNAME and CFAA TECHNICIAN NUMBER at the bottom of this page.
This facility is to be used for the sole purpose of answering the following question:
"Does the Canadian Fire Alarm Association affirm that the following person has successfully completed all three of the obligations undertaken by a person who wishes to become a fully-registered Fire Alarm Technician in good standing with the Canadian Fire Alarm Association?"
Those three obligations are:
(1) successful completion of the CFAA five-course Fire Alarm Technician Educational Program,
(2) successful completion of the one-year experience quotient, and
(3) current registration as a Fire Alarm Technician, in good standing, with the CFAA.

Specifying a surname

Do not use French accents in surnames. The database does not contain accents. Using accents will always result in a "no match".

Do not use spaces in surnames. For example, do enter "DeGuerre" instead of "De Guerre", and do enter "'vanDyke" instead of "van Dyke".

Do not use non-alphabetic characters such as commas or underscores, although hyphens in hyphenated surnames are valid and an apostrophe in a name such as O'Neil is valid.
Specifying a Technician Number

Use numeric portion only. Do not include any "-A" trailing alphabetics.

You must include the hyphen (-) in the third position of the technician number.

How current is the online database?

The online Technician Registry Database is refreshed daily.

New Technicians and reinstated expirees will be added to the registry within two to three weeks of the approval of their application.
Expired Registrations

Technicians with recently expired registrations remain on the CFAA website on-line Technician Registry Database for a one month grace period.

These Technicians will have been sent reminder notices in advance of their expiration date.

They will be removed from the database when their registrations have been in arrears for over a month.ÿ

Each Technician's registration expiry date appears on their laminated CFAA Fire Alarm Technician identification card.
